Cultural Dexterity

At Apollo Tyres, a custom-made program titled as Apollo Global Citizen Certification has been designed to train people in being cross-culturally competent. This program is intended to establish and leverage business rapport with people from different cultures. It has enabled them to develop a global mindset, intercultural competence and an awareness of workplace cultures in countries other than their own. Any employee who is selected to move from one country/culture to another as a part of career development is certified through this program.



Performance Horizon

Based on employee feedback, Apollo Tyres has stabilized their new global performance management process after a year of launch. Horizon performance management system gives them a platform to capture SMART annual goals for the year and development plans of employees.

Alignment and empowerment at all levels of employees are the key drivers for a great workplace.

An engaged workforce and pride in being a member of an organization which is continually improving and challenging itself to deliver superior outputs.

3. What are your top people priorities?
The organization’s philosophy is of continual learning and improvement; we encourage all employees to think creatively and highlight opportunities for improvement in all areas. We also encourage people to be smart risk takers, which will enable them to be enterprising in their approach.

Getting recognized amongst the best workplaces has had a positive impact on our business and our people. Besides this, continuous learning from other winning organizations and related unique implementation has helped us sharpen our corners.

1. What can your present and potential employees be sure of from a work culture perspective in the organization?
The Apollo Values, which is our common culture within the organisation, is what defines us. This is a system of values that, like our six senses, define who we are and how we work. There is respect for people all around in this one large Apollo Family. We are a team with a fast-paced work environment, with several opportunities to work in cross-functional teams and deliver beyond the mandate.

2. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing?
With the growing business and the changing business environment, the organisation’s expectation from the employees, and vice versa has undergone a sea change. The industrial environment has also gone through its own share of changes with the Industry 4.0 coming in. This needed new skill sets and competencies amongst the employees, especially building capability for automation in our manufacturing units, and digital skills for our teams across functions.

3. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure etc. in the organization?
Every action of Apolloites is guided by a set of values, referred to as Apollo Values internally, which like our six senses, defines who we are and how we work. This is being driven and communicated top-down in our organisation.

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
Getting the recognition of being a great workplace from the last so many years, our teams are more confident in their approach to the customers. Automotive manufacturers, our most important customers, consider such recognition while agreeing to partner with us for the regular supply of our products to them.
