Different personnel handling the hiring process may set different expectations for the candidates. To promote uniformity in the process, BMC Software has launched a program called 'BMC in a Box'. This program has a brief description on EVP and branding. It provides a sales pitch for recruiters to every candidate they hire. All the recruiters, hiring managers & technical panelists involved in hiring program are trained on ‘BMC in a Box’. It helps them set the right context with the candidate. Everyone talks the ‘One BMC Language’ with candidates, which foster candidate's confidence in BMC as an employer.

The Presence Initiative

The Presence Initiative’ was started with the objective of promoting leaders and senior executives of BMC as thought leaders and value champions in their areas of expertise not only inside the company but across the industry as a whole. Under this initiative, they continuously work to increase their influence across multiple segments through various media like YouTube, Quora, blogs, personal websites, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter. As part of this initiative, leaders share their stories, experiences, values and philosophy not only in their professional but in their personal life as well.

BMC is a calm place to work. I feel no matter how much is the work pressure you will always find people working together and achieving their desired goals. I have been around for almost 8 years now, but I still have the passion and willingness to do more.

1. What is your personal approach to making a Great Workplace?
At BMC, we have always strived hard to design an experience that delights our employees. It has always been one of our top priorities to create moments & experiences that they cherish. And this is clearly reflected in our philosophy and organisational culture right from designing a state-of-the-art ‘office of the future’, to involving & engaging the families of employees through events like ‘Hysteria - Annual Day’; ‘Bring your parents and/or kids to work day’. As a great workplace, we also ensure that employees have ample opportunities for wholesome development, work-life integration and wellness. Empowering our employees and enabling them to build great careers is what makes us a great workplace.

2. What are the top 2 benefits you see of creating a Great Workplace?
Building a great workplace has enabled us to create more innovative & creative solutions which add tremendous value and solve the most critical problems of our customers. This not only makes our centre in India an R&D hub globally, but it also enables our global customers to connect, interact and exchange thoughts & ideas with the teams who are building their products. This gives an impetus to our operations in India and enables us to be the strategic differentiator for BMC globally. Great workplace culture has consistently helped us in attracting & retaining good talent BMC.

3. What are your top people priorities?
Happy employees create great workplaces. Our top focus areas at BMC have been creating a culture of inclusiveness, offering quality employee experience and providing opportunities for learning & development to our employees. We are also committed to communicating transparently and more frequently it helps us in delivering operational excellence as well as building high employee trust. 

4. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing?
The industry is transforming rapidly causing frequent disruptions. This is leading to a severe shortage of highly trained and skilled workforce which will be able to adapt to the pace at which things are changing. Availability of the new age talent is the biggest challenge our industry is facing currently. 

5. What can your present and potential employees be sure of from a work culture perspective in the organization?
At BMC, one thing will always remain constant; our employees will always come First. We will always put our employees first when we design policies or processes that would guide the company. We empower them to be as innovative and creative as possible by creating the best work environment and by building state-of-the-art infrastructure. Our employees are our most important assets and investing in them enables us to become more competitive and agile on a global scale. When we take good care of our employees, they feel empowered to take the right decisions which delight our customers. Employees can also be very sure that we will always do things in good faith and in the right manner. And we will also keep contributing to the community by helping the society through our initiatives like the fight against cancer, scholarships for the underprivileged kids, tree plantation drives and blood donation camps 

6. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure etc. in the organization? 
At BMC we go the extra mile in making the workplace as inclusive as possible through strategic choices which reduce barriers and break down silos. Our policies are therefore agnostic to grades/job levels. Everyone gets to enjoy the same organisational experience irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure or influence. We have always been at the forefront in articulating a clear vision for our employees and we ensure that we are communicating transparently with all, in order to empower each one of our employees. 

7. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
Great Place to Work® has enabled us to revamp our communications strategy to make the workplace become more inclusive and transparent. It has helped in breaking geographical barriers while hiring, engaging and retaining talent. We were also able to strengthen the belief across our organization, of having an environment which is more intuitive and responsive to employees’ needs. Happy employees make the best brand ambassadors, our association with Great Place to Work® has helped us in crafting the best experience for our employees. Participation in the Great Place to Work® survey offered employees an opportunity to contribute towards creating a great employer brand and instilled a sense of pride in each one of them.
