Just like the way one used to give exams with other students at the same time, DHL Express brings its employees together to learn at the same time. The ‘United Learning Day’ (ULD) is a unique L&D initiative where employees at all levels come together and complete their Individual Development Programs (IDPs) by logging into an e-portal at the same time. After completing their respective assignments, the employees gather again for a Peer-to-Peer knowledge sharing session, thereby celebrating the spirit of learning and development with fellow employees.

1. What is your personal approach to making a Great Workplace?
I truly believe that motivated and empowered teams contribute to a Great Workplace. This comes through role Clarity, Opportunity to learn and grow, high-performance culture, Competitive compensation and healthy two-way communication at all levels of the organization are all basic building blocks of a great workplace.

2. What are the top 2 benefits you see of creating a Great Workplace?
Being a Great Workplace is the smartest ( but not the easiest ) thing to do – because motivated employees go an extra mile to satisfy customers an proven to build a more efficient and profitable business. Further being a great workplace helps you to attracts and retain the best talent – which is critical to be a successful business.

3. What are your top people priorities?
Developing first level leadership is one of the top priorities for us – Supervisors and Team Leaders who manage the front line are critical in implementing organizational plans, providing effective communication and delivering quality. Another key priority for us is to ensure their holistic wellbeing as we believe that good health translates into good business.

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
While we have our internal employee feedback mechanisms, Great Place to Work® helps us benchmark ourselves with best in class companies and evolving people practices. So it gives us an Outside-In perspective – that helps us continuously improve our policies and practices. Great work culture is the hallmark of a successful organization and helps us attract the right talent. Being in the Great Place to Work® lists is a recognition that instils a great sense of pride amongst our employees who are responsible for making our organization what it is today.

1. What can your present and potential employees be sure of from a work culture perspective in the organization?
Organization’s culture is built by its employees and at DHL our employees flourish in an open and engaging workplace. Employees believe in working towards making each day, the best day for themselves, their colleagues and the customers. We believe “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and truly follow our core value of Speed, Passion, Can Do Attitude and Right First Time to achieve all milestones.

2. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing?
DHL is able to attract quality candidates from the external market whenever a vacancy arises. Logistics is a growing industry and people look forward to joining it.

3. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure etc. in the organization?
DHL follows its Diversity and Inclusion policy to ensure a consistent experience across employee segment. Our Code of Conduct also makes this mandatory to ensure Respect FOR ALL our employees.

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
We have been consistently ranked under Top 20 as a Great Place to Work since 2014 and this helps us strengthen our employer brand in the external market. Our employees, peers in various organisation, potential candidates all value the work we do which is further validated by our association with Great Place to Work®.
