Employees that are their Heroes, both within and outside the business are celebrated, with videos circulated about their stories and success on WhatsApp and Yammer, two of their digital employee engagement platforms. 1. What is your personal approach to making a Great Workplace?
I personally love the term Chief Empowerment Officer for CEO. As an organisation, we have made a lot of effort to empower our colleagues. I believe in providing people with the freedom that they need and allow them, in return, to show what they can accomplish. Any failure is taken as a positive learning experience. The autonomy, the trust that has built due to it is phenomenal. While empowerment is a pre-requisite for a fast-moving organisation, we encourage collaboration as stringently to ensure that we are able to optimise different perspectives, experiences and skills. Collaboration going hand in hand with Empowerment is creating an Organization which is future ready and a place people enjoy coming to every day.

2. What are the top 2 benefits you see of creating a Great Workplace?
A Great Workplace to me is one where one is not attached by a contract of employment, rather where one is attached through emotional connect. This is the only level of engagement that can deliver path breaking performance.

The bigger benefit is in creating a larger happy family which goes beyond the employees & business partners to their families as well. The ripple effect.

3. What are your top people priorities?
I do not have any people priorities. It is the people who decide their priorities. My role is to create responsible people, who fulfil their priorities and an eco-system that encourages and supports it.

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
Being eligible for the certification at our first attempt itself is a validation that we are on the right path. It has reinforced employee faith, energy and focus. We are sure it will propel our team to think innovatively, take on bigger challenges and stay focused on going beyond the goals defined.

1. What can your present and potential employees be sure of from a work culture perspective in the organization?
The employees of Godfrey Phillips India can be sure of the fact that they are the architect and co-creator of the Work Culture they practice on a day to day basis. The Work Culture of Godfrey Phillips has always been the prerogative of people at large. My role is to just link it to the Organization’s ethos and let the common will prevail.

2. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing?
We in Godfrey Phillips India have the best retention rate in the Industry. Our business challenges emerge from a dynamic environment that throws multi-faceted situations at our workforce. Keeping the employees motivated, energized and focused in any given scenario takes precedence in our case.

3. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure etc. in the organization?
Consistent workplace experience is best created by an inclusive and encompassing culture which is felt across levels and demographics rather than being a matter of employee policies and its administration. Thus, a concerted effort is constantly made to focus on the cultural imperatives determined by people at large while senior stakeholders play the role model. This sets the tone for the rest of the Organization. We are intentional about culture, approaching it from an architectural model — based on proactive leaders at all levels.

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
People centralism has always been a key ingredient in our strategic business objectives. Being a Great Place to Work ensures the right kind of pride, engagement and involvement towards meeting these Strategic Objectives.
