LEAP

Learn, Enrich, Attain, Perform: Apart from the Classroom training and workshop that the company provides to Newers for skill development, they have also introduced an alternate mode of Learning called LEAP. LEAP is an initiative that aims at sharing the best online programs with the Newers. Any newer can enroll for any online course which is published by their L&D. The L&D team maintains a comprehensive database of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) ranging from technical to managerial and soft skills programs from platforms like Coursera, edX, Udacity and Udemy to name a few. The Program list consists of both paid and free online programs. New online programs are added to the database on a regular basis.

REAP

REAP stands for 'Reward. Earn. Acknowledge. Praise' and is an internal platform/application where Newers can recognise each other by giving a badge (Gold/Silver/Platinum) for exemplifying a set of behaviors (called Karmas) or any of their Core Values. All Newers are empowered to recognise each other and therefore anyone can recognise anyone across the board, be it a Peer, Mentee, Mentovisor (Manager) or someone from the Leadership team. Each Badge (Gold/Silver/Platinum) has a set of points associated with it. Newers accumulate these points over a period of time by virtue of the badges they receive. These points can be used to buy TO THE NEW merchandise from the company's online store.

The management is like a family here, if you are honest with the organization, then in return you get an extended family who would not just look after you professionally but also personally.

1. What is your personal approach to making a Great Workplace?
To me, a great workplace is synonymous with “people’s happiness & growth”, and like everything in life, it's a continuous improvement process; and it's impossible to improve anything without measuring it.

At TO THE NEW, we have a very strong feedback loop and we continuously measure, track & report “people happiness & growth KPIs” with the same rigour & detail as is typically given to financial KPIs. We use a variety of tools & ways to truly listen to everyone in the Organization - whether it is surveys, formal & informal check-ins, etc. We constantly think about how can we be doing things better.

Making a great workplace rests on a few simple ideas -
a) provide a high trust environment with a lot of freedom & transparency & zero politics
b) make sure that people are learning & progressing in their career
c) are heard & understood by others in the organisation and
d) are getting the best possible compensation, benefits & facilities.

2. What are the top 2 benefits you see of creating a Great Workplace?
We can’t think of building a great organization without creating a great workplace. We deeply believe that only happy people can lead to happy customers.

To us, having a great workplace is the foundation of everything else we do.

3. What are your top people priorities?
Our top people priorities have always been about their happiness & growth.

We invest in the growth of our people by -

Our clients also understand the fact that we as an organization are committed to their success by first being committed to happiness & growth of our people.

Participation in the Great Place to Work® assessment survey allows us to benchmark ourselves against the very best in the industry, identify gaps and strive harder every year to improve upon our people practices, benefits structure, etc.

All this has helped us sustain the employer of choice status and register a 50% YoY growth.

1. What can your present and potential employees be sure of from a work culture perspective in the organization?
We are a High-Trust Organization and offer a lot of freedom to our people. Freedom to express their ideas, try new things, make mistakes and work with an “I own the place” mindset. Transparency plays an important role in building a High-Trust Culture and we share both good and bad news with our people. It also helps us align everyone to the larger vision and objectives of the Organisation. Additionally, we take a keen interest in people’s Growth and Learning. Knowledge sharing and Training are a regular feature at TO THE NEW.

2. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing?
We operate in a very competitive and niche space of Digital Technologies. IT Industry as a whole is making a shift towards the new-age technologies and therefore, there are ample opportunities out there leading to people turnover. However, there is a huge demand-supply issue as the pool of skilled people is limited. We try to bridge this gap through a robust boot camp for new hires and providing a great working environment and benefits structure to our people.

3. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure etc. in the organization?
We strongly feel that each individual has a unique contribution and adds value to the Organization. We embrace and value our people’s diverse backgrounds, ideas, and skills. We are a results-focused work environment and reward for performance. Our People practices are consistent across the board, be it our benefits structure which is the same across levels or ESOP scheme which covers everyone irrespective of their skills/background/role, etc.

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
Our association with Great Place to Work® has helped us stay on course and is a great validation from our people, year-on-year. We have been participating in Great Place to Work® survey for 6 years now. Through these years, we have been able to benchmark ourselves, identify gaps and strive harder every year to improve upon our people practices, benefits structure, etc. Needless to say, all this has helped us sustain the employer of choice status and register a 50% YoY growth.
