The mission of KLAY is “enabling women to get back to work” which is accomplished by a) providing quality daycare and education to children and enabling mothers to return to work guiltlessly; and b) working with returning mothers to deliver their commitment. They do not discriminate against, tacitly or actively, women who are in the process of starting their family, and do not consider that as a factor in deciding the candidature. The company welcomes returning mothers, who prefer operating in environments that are close to children, thereby helping them balance their career and home life.

It is very great to work here. Teachers/Center Head and others provide a lot of support. I like to work over here. Everyone is like a family and all of us share our problems with each other.

1. What is your personal approach to making a Great Workplace?
Creating an open, approachable culture. A culture where we are seen as a humble, reflective organization. One of ownership and a place where people have the ability to say this is my personal stamp into KLAY - we learn from each other and become a better version of the organization from the collective wisdom. An ear to the ground at the frontline where employees and customers are reacting and creating an enabling approach to solving for problems.

2. What are the top 2 benefits you see of creating a Great Workplace?
- People feel more connected and there is a sense of ownership - it isn’t a job but they are part of a collective mission to make things happen.
- Helps attract and retain talent - people are the core to our business and we manage to hire and keep the best at appropriate costs because of the fact that we work hard to make KLAY a Great Place to Work.

3. What are your top people priorities?
As a growing organization and one in a massively distributed network and workforce - preserving culture. We grow almost 100% year on year on staff strength. How do we ensure people already in the system feel respected and valued and people new in the system feel they are welcome and can hit the ground running with ideas and implementation orientation. How do we foster a sense of respect for old and new as we stay on this growth journey.

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
It has provided us with a great framework to assess ourselves under. We have used the Great Place to Work® framework to even put together what we call an employee promoter score (on the Net Promoter Score model) - the aim is the see if an employee feels an association with the brand and the overall purpose of the brand. Great Place to Work® has enabled us to measure and course correct our processes and understand employee perceptions and needs better.

1. What can your present and potential employees be sure of from a work culture perspective in the organization?
“Transparent, Flexible, Growth” is what rings in a KLAYER’s mind

2. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing?
Trusting a career in child-care, Learning to deal “parent-customer” and Training core team in ECE space and service.

3. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure etc. in the organization?
Consistent Communication to all members on actions and changes in KLAY. New hire induction and onboarding is spot on. Every individual grievance is respected and attended by the senior leadership team. Access to job opportunities & career growth internally. HR Policies are flat, simple and need-based, not by job grade or hierarchy.

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
Great Place to Work® helped us under the current and commonly recognised workplace standard. By working on it for 2 years, it helped us focus and make changes in systems & processes on KEY PEOPLE actions. Now we can assess correctly employee experience.
