Signify Innovations India Limited leveraged the festive spirit during Diwali a little differently with a catchy initiative called ‘Halla Bol’. As the name suggests, this initiative allowed any employee of the organization, irrespective of core role to join hands and storm the market with the sales team. The brief on the ground was simple- gather enough market insights to boost planning for the coming year. And the impact of this 4-day initiative? More than 1800 outlets visited in 2 days. More than 110 million in sales orders in 2 days. 2000 million in secondary sales with more than 100 colleagues from different functions working with the sales team.

Back in the Game

Getting back after a career break can be a taxing job indeed. However, Signify Innovations is easing this transition for the women by their ‘Back in the Game Internship Programs’. The initiative provides a platform for skilled women professionals who have taken a career break, helping them transition back to a corporate career through live projects across various functions. The program is designed to offer flexibility to senior consultants, enabling them to balance their professional ambitions and their personal commitments.

It is always great to be part of the leader in the industry. Sustaining no 1 position for decades with satisfied internal and external customers is something which gives immense pride and makes a company a great place to work.

1. What is your personal approach to making a Great Workplace?
For me, a great workplace is one where I’m able to contribute to the larger goals of the organization, where my performance is duly recognized, and my learning and development needs are identified in a timely manner and well planned out. It’s also important that employees get a sense of belongingness at work and they are empowered to create a difference. At Signify, we are trying to create a work culture where employees are motivated to share ideas openly, take ownership and deliver results.

2. What are the top 2 benefits you see of creating a Great Workplace?
Creating a great workplace has a plethora of benefits. However, the top two are:
• An engaged workforce that is self-motivated and driven to achieve results for themselves and the organization.
• Attracting and retaining the best talent in the industry, which helps us create a sustainable competitive advantage for our business in the process.

3. What are your top people priorities?
Our employees are our biggest assets and are at the core of everything we do as a company. We regularly strive to focus on the following priorities:

The benefits of being associated with Great Place to Work® have been tremendous and we have seen visible effects on our employer brand. As our ranking improved from 82nd to 69th in the last 2 years, we also witnessed an enhancement in employee motivation and our appeal as an employer brand externally. It has helped us to:
• Reinforce our commitment to our key value propositions and create a workplace that incessantly inspires innovation, sustainability and growth.
• It’s a great platform to get insights on various innovative ideas in the industry and benchmark ourselves in the industry.

1. What can your present and potential employees be sure of from a work culture perspective in the organization?
We take pride in our employee value proposition as it not only focuses on empowering our employees but also takes care of their overall development. Our policies are structured to maximize work-life balance, job satisfaction and learning & development. With sustainability and innovation at the core of our DNA, we make sure that all our CSR programs & Organization Excellence Programs are structured to get maximum participation and deliver the best solution which resonates with the millennial mindset.

2. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing?
Lighting as a product is becoming smarter and intelligent. Hence, our challenges are identical to that of the technology industry:
• The increasing scarcity of top talent in the market is one of the big challenges that we face as an industry..
• With more than half of India’s population being under 25 years old, we are looking at one of the biggest transformations in the talent landscape and with that, comes the challenge to managing and retaining this talent.

3. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure etc. in the organization?
We are a start-up with 127 years of legacy. Hence, the workplace experience flows right from the top. Be it the open-door policy or having lunch and learning sessions directly with the CEO, we make sure that each employee gets a platform to put their ideas/queries forward. A workplace that is so diverse in terms of age, gender and tenure, and has talent that has grown to leadership level within the company enables us to create a consistent experience for all our employees.

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
Being recognized for our relentless efforts, for two consecutive years has not only helped us gain external and internal endorsement but is also a testament to our progress. In the last two years, we have seen a boost in employee morale and productivity. People are more committed than ever to make ‘Signify’ the best workplace.
