Coffee Championship

This is a multilevel championship, which is designed to enable coffee mastery in their partners. Aprons in itself means the stages that they are mastering and each apron is designed to be worn with proud and inspire other to gain mastery. Moving from a green apron to a black “Coffee Master” apron is an inspiring journey in itself. A Barista has to move through 8 levels in order to be called as COFFEE AMBASADOR. It inspires their partner to be the best and show the talent to others. They provide them a grand platform where they go through several rounds of test and compete to be called as a COFFEE CHAMPION.

This is a unique platform launched in the form of an mobile app and website tool accessible to all the Partners, this unique platform allows them the login and register their queries, well defined SLAs enable them to get the response on time and leads to better engagement. This is a future forward approach taken by Tata Starbucks to bring an app for the partners and bridge the gaps arising out of distance, time and locations. Partner can track status of their query and also rate their experience. With a commitment to deliver best in class services Partner resources is also committed to deliver best in class service to our partners. This app breaks down the value chain and allows partners to directly connect with us which in turn allows speedy resolution of queries and better satisfaction.

1. What is your approach to making a Great Workplace?
At Tata Starbucks, we create an environment where each partner can be themselves, express themselves freely, discover their passion and realize their full potential. We treat everyone with respect and dignity and ensure that everybody has a voice.

2. What are the top 2 benefits you see of creating a Great Workplace?
At Tata Starbucks, our 1800 partners are the heart and soul of the signature Starbucks Experience. Their passion for coffee and the endeavor to build a personal connection with customers and communities is something that creates a Great Workplace.

An important aspect of building a great experience includes celebrating each customer’s coffee tastes. For us, each cup of coffee is unique and defined by the coffee palette of the customer. We aim to build initiatives that help showcase the coffee skills of our baristas while paying a tribute to the varied coffee palettes of our customers and Starbucks 47-year legacy of sourcing, roasting and serving the world’s top Arabica coffee.

3. What are your top people priorities?
At Tata Starbucks, we lay a strong emphasis on partner development through education and engagement and provide an environment that supports and inspires our partners. We want each partner working at Tata Starbucks to achieve their full potential and grow, they should have a feeling of belongingness, the freedom to speak their minds and find their purpose in their work.

Tata Starbucks is a performance-driven organization that encourages diversity to create a truly inclusive workplace. As a brand that values customer experience, we believe that our partners are our true differentiators and we’ve been able to create a unique Third Place experience for our customers by empowering our partners to do everything that's required to provide this differentiated experience.

2. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing?
High attrition is a key challenge. We have been able to keep our attrition below half of the industry rate by creating a uniquely different culture and also by catering to our partners' aspirational needs by enabling their learning, career growth and investing ahead of the curve on differentiated benefits.

3. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure, etc. in the organization?
Our talent philosophy is founded on the values of our organization where every partner is treated equally with dignity and respect. We are a performance-oriented company with the lens of humanity. A consistent approach to hiring through hiring for service model, talent management, performance & development approach and structured rewards & recognition systems are helping us to identify, nurture and grow diverse talent in the business.
