It is important for the team members to distress after all the efforts they put in all week and hence they have weekly engagement activities every Friday. Every Friday different activities such as karaoke, Pictionary lucky dip, housie are arranged along with gifts for the winning team.

1. What is your personal approach to making a Great Workplace?
For an organization that aims at leadership in the hospitality industry and at creating a memorable experience for guests, the iconic brand of over 80 years, The Oberoi Group, depends on its three core pillars for brand success - product, service, and people excellence. And encircling these three pillars is the ‘Oberoi Dharma’ - a value system that expects conduct of the highest ethical standards, teamwork, care, communication, and putting the guest first, the company second and the self, last. Even when it comes to performance assessment, employees’ living by the Dharma forms an integral part of the appraisal process.

2. What are the top 2 benefits you see of creating a Great Workplace?
Our core has been to align the goals of each and every team member towards delivering the brand promise and ensuring that every guest leaves as an ambassador of our hotels. This was the belief and conviction of our founder and this conviction holds true today – it is driven and supported by leadership at our hotels without compromise. This along with our values, culture and commitment to individual learning and development help create a great workplace.

3. What are your top people priorities?
We strongly believe that we can only have happy and loyal guests if we have a happy and committed team who at all times place our guests and their experiences at our hotel above all else. Our values and culture help us in achieving this. Our people have a strong sense of ownership and go beyond the call of duty in supporting each other and creating life long memories for our guests. By doing this, we build love and loyalty for our brand and our hotels. We also believe that we must select people at every level who share these values. We must also nurture our people so that they can contribute, learn, develop and grow. This philosophy is supported by The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development (OCLD) that drives Learning and Development across the organisation. OCLD is globally renowned and benchmarked in the hospitality education space and helps us attract and develop the best talent in the hospitality industry.

We believe that partnering in a reputed study, such as ‘India’s Best Companies to Work For’, enables us to put things into perspective and understand where we stand among other people-focused organisations.
