Culture Huddles

Culture Huddles are organized to re-enforce the Culture, Walmart values and behaviors. In this forum, they have senior leaders who interact with associates from across functions and talk about the values and behaviors which form the foundation of this great organization. Leaders and associates share real-time inspiring stories which promote positive re-enforcement of that value and its behaviors. The most inspiring story in the huddle is awarded with a lapel pin.



Volunteering Modernization

With the mission of enabling small businesses to prosper, Walmart India launched a program called Reseller Development. In this program, kirana shop owners are provided with the technical knowledge and other support to enhance their stores and create a better shopping experience for their customers. Several store associates volunteer their time, knowledge and effort to educate them and have redesigned their stores in several instances.

1. What can your present and potential employees be sure of from a work culture perspective in the organization?
Our business is built on the solid bedrock of timeless Culture of Behaviours and Values. All our associates (employees are referred to as associates in Walmart) experience and demonstrate our four Values of Service to the Customer, Respect for Individual, Strive for Excellence and Act with Integrity.

2. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing?

Cash & Carry/Retail sectors provide immense opportunities to innovate and solve problems for members/customers. Supporting our associates with the right tools and training and helping them develop a digital mindset is imperative to our business as we move with speed and agility to meet member/customer needs. In addition, providing an inclusive environment where diversity thrives is critical to success. At Walmart India, it has been our constant endeavour and we have made diversity & inclusion an integral part of our culture.

3. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure etc. in the organization?

Our Associate Value Proposition (AVP), 'This Is That Place' has 5 pillars - Mission, Innovation, Opportunity, Well-being and Inclusion. We believe that every associate experiences this AVP throughout his/her journey with us, irrespective of role, age, gender, tenure and physical abilities. Such inclusiveness fosters an environment which allows diversity to thrive and helps us achieve our people strategy of building a digitally enabled high-performance culture.
