Brigade Hospitality Services Ltd. is recognized among India's Great Mid-size Workplaces 2019 and among India's Best Workplaces for Women 2019 (Top 75). Every year, Great Place to Work® identifies India's 50 Great Mid-size Workplaces (with employee strength of 100 to 500) through an objective and rigorous workplace culture assessment process. As a part of our annual research in India, this year a total of 747 organizations were evaluated and from them, we identified India’s 75 Best Workplaces for Women 2019.

Brigade Hospitality Services Ltd. (BHSL), is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brigade Enterprises Ltd. Formally registered in June 2004, it pioneered the concept of professionally managed and branded serviced apartments under the brand name Brigade Homestead. The company has since extended its operations across multiple domains of the hospitality industry. These include – lifestyle membership clubs such as Signature Club Resort, Woodrose, Augusta, Galaxy and Regent Clubs, the two MLR Convention Centres and most recently The Northern Terrace, a venue for banqueting located at the World Trade Centre. The company is also involved in Institutional Catering, Banquets, Outdoor Catering and Event Management under its sub-brand 'Celebrations Catering & Events'.

Soap Box Sessions

At Brigade Hospitality Services Limited, training topics, activities and the agenda make the participants speak up, express their point of view, makes them think, wonder and grow. This is specifically conducted for team members on the Executive and above level. This helps them improve their communication, confidence and opens the mind to new concepts and ideas.



English Language Training on WhatsApp

At Brigade Hospitality Services Limited, a WhatsApp group created called BookWormz is created across all levels of employees for the purpose of learning and improving English Language Skills. The Head of Learning shares a sentence that is incomplete or grammatically incorrect and employees who are part of this group reply with the answers they think correct. At the end of the day, the L&D Head compliments the person giving the correct answer. In case no one in the group has given the correct answer, the L&D Head gives the answer and explains the reasons so that they understand the usage.

Management does not encourage or believe in micro management. Makes employees take ownership of their responsibilities and actions. Recognizes our best performances and also provides guidance and support whenever required. Provided a good balance between work and personal life.

1. What is your personal approach to making a Great Workplace? 
I believe in the philosophy of treating all our Associates as our internal customers. Our first priority is towards them and their welfare. We believe that a happy employee certainly makes for a happy customer. Happiness is best spread inside out.

2. What are the top 2 benefits you see of creating a Great Workplace? 
a) A happy employee with a happier family
b) “Service with a smile” resulting in a happy customer, increased loyalty and therefore improved revenues. 

3. What are your top people priorities? 
a) Respect all employees irrespective of hierarchy, age, status, etc. 
b) Ensure that the workplace where they spend maximum part of their working life is congenial, hygienic and well maintained 
c) Ensure right people get the right credit
d) Ensure deserving candidates get growth opportunities within the company 
e) Ensure a support system is in place that goes beyond the official constraints when it comes to helping our associates during their personal emergencies

It has helped us to assess our internal strengths and weaknesses when benchmarked with similar entities in India. We have commenced work in areas of further improvement which will help us become a better workplace and a preferred employer in the coming days.

1. What can your present and potential employees be sure of from a work culture perspective in the organization?
a) Friendly workplace, freedom to share ideas and being innovative.

2. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing? 
Comparatively higher rate of attrition and shortage of skilled staff in the Hospitality Sector. 

3. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure, etc. in the organization? 
We have an open office approach. We are available anytime/anywhere for our employees. Whatever may be the issue employee has at his/her workplace, they can approach us. Sometimes this may disrupt our routine, but we think to be available and there for the team is our 1st priority. We practice this personally and ensure all HR touchpoints practice the same. Brigade Hospitality is a congenial place to work. We believe that a flat structure works better and doesn’t differentiate by position or title.

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals? 
We have always been people-oriented secular, apolitical and have an ingrained culture of respecting all. Our association with Great Place to Work® has helped enhance this. Every new initiative is more focused and results specifically because Great Place to Work® has articulated many things which otherwise remain points of discussion.
