Hindi & English Lessons

At, Burns & McDonnell Engineering India Pvt. Ltd. expats attend Hindi Classes to blend well with their office and Indian culture. In all meetings, they greet in Hindi and try to collaborate in a way that employees feel they are one of them. At the same time to enhance the collaboration between BMI employees and BMcD US teams – some employees are encouraged to attend English Classes to sharpen their linguistic skills.

At Burns & McDonnell Engineering India Pvt. Ltd. to cheer up the female employee and participate in her journey to be a mother, they celebrate with a baby shower by cutting the cake.

On the day of joining here in BMI, all accessories like Laptop, Water bottle, etc., along with a welcome note was placed at my workplace which made me feel welcome here. Also, the HR & IT team are approachable at any time and they helped me out which made my work easier. Professionally, I feel that I can express myself in the work and clear about what the management expects from me. Also, I received a Cake from BMI on my birthday at home, which was a weekend and it made my day.

Safety is First, one of BMI's works principle. Here in BMI, this is not only on paper but we actually follow this in our day-to-day life. One office incident I want to share here is that one of our colleagues had slipped on a watery floor in the washroom during cleaning and keeping in mind our work principles on the next day of this incident itself the carpet is placed on these areas. 3. What are your top people priorities? 
With Burns & McDonnell India’s people-first approach, we focus on bringing an open work culture, provide transparency in our business goals, give clarity in career paths of each individual and last but not the least empower them to take a lead in all spheres of life. 1. What can your present and potential employees be sure of from a work culture perspective in the organization? 
A team and people orientated culture that ensures fairness, respect and professional growth for the individual, and a rewarding collaboration is what BMI employees can be sure of. 

2. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing? 
As the Oil and Gas market recovers and creates a competitive ground for recruitment, employee turnover is a major challenge for our industry. However, we are privileged to have the lowest attrition among employers in the industry. Our creative initiative, caring approach and employee engagement programs keep us among the top employers. 

3. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure, etc. in the organization? 
Sound business practices and ethical behavior have been the core of success at Burns & McDonnell. Burns & McDonnell seeks an energetic, innovative and entrepreneurial spirit in each of our employees. All personnel actions from the organization, such as compensation, benefits, transfers, access to training, education, educational assistance, and social recreation programs are administered without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, citizenship, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, veteran’s status, age, mental or physical disability, genetic information or any other protected class. We strive to maintain a workplace where all employees are treated with dignity, honesty, fairness, and respect. We have various independent committees and forums like Safety committee, Emergency Response Committee, Kizuna, Employee Recognition and Appreciation Committee, Prevention of Sexual Harassment Committee, Grievance Redressal Committee, CSR Committee, Sports Committee, Quality Committee, Staff Bus Committee, etc. These committees and forums include representatives from each group and across all levels in our employee groups that direct activities and initiatives within the office and ensures fairness and equality throughout.

From three years in a row, we participated in the GPTW survey with the aim to measure and build a better workplace for our team. - Great Place to Work® Survey is entirely dependent upon the opinions of those who know the organization best – the employees – which makes it more meaningful. Reports from Great Place to Work® gives us great insights and areas to work on and create an enchanting workplace for each employee. - Carrying a Great Place to Work® stamp not only stirs up employee pride, but it also serves as a reminder of our commitment to employees. It helped us immensely in mitigating employee turnover and creating a happy place to work. We have positioned ourselves well for growth with the association.
