1. What is your personal approach to making a Great Workplace?
Our approach is to keep it simple, real and actionable.
Policies, KPI’s, Goals, Visions, Purpose, Review system, Expectations should all be simply crafted, communicated and ensured that they are well understood by each and everyone in the organization.
Say nothing that you would not do. And do nothing that you wouldn't say. Ensure that there is consistency in decision making and people in the organization are kept aware of the realities - the good and the not so good. It is important to ensure that no one is living in a bubble and corrective action can be taken while there still is time.
Ensure that talk and vision translate into affirmative action and just doesn't remain a bunch of words spoken in the town hall or in the about section of the company website.
2. What are the top 2 benefits you see of creating a Great Workplace?
Amongst the many benefits of creating a great workplace the 2 that stand out are:
It enables us to do the best work of our lives.
A workplace that is collaborative, positive and transparent helps in creating an environment where each talent can walk in every single day and is motivated to do the best work of their lives. This, in turn, helps us reach our goals and missions in the most productive manner. It helps us do great work which in turn helps us attract and retain key clients.
It helps us attract and retain the best talent.
Needless to say, a workplace where the talent finds joy in doing the best work of their lives - helps us not just retain them and grow them but also attract talent from other companies who want to be a part of such a winning and positive work environment.
There is a bottom line to our bottom line, and that is our culture.

To Listen & then To Respond:
We have created a space where each member of the organization is provided with an environment to not just express themselves but also to ensure that what they are expressing is heard, understood and as required acted upon. Here it is important to respond and not to react. We welcome and encourage criticism and constructive feedback openly as it helps us improve our culture.
An important aspect of our culture is its consistency of decision making. This ensures that there are no two different yardsticks for the same question or occurrence and the team has faith in the organization and management that they will take a fair decision.
It’s extremely important to create an environment of stability and that can only be achieved through consistency in decision making.
We believe that while the core of our culture remains constant, the implementation and manifestation of it needs to keep evolving with time. It’s similar to lean towards a start-up methodology where we would test our policies, activities, and benefits — learn from them and then either implement or evolve based on the learning. It is a process of constant improvement.
Character over Talent:
Something that is non-negotiable at GOZOOP. We always, always have valued character over talent. We would prefer a person scores higher on character than talent, rather than a person who scores higher on talent, but the character is questionable.
We have had to make some tough decisions along the journey which could have been short term fixes to boost our bottom line by hiring talent which was not the best culture match, but we refrained from doing so, and it has helped us exponentially in the long run.
4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
We believe that the main motivation to becoming a Great Place to Work® should not be to win awards. We developed it to create a great environment for our talent. When our culture and dynamics are validated and acknowledged by a reputable platform such as Great Place to Work® and it is also recognized by the industry. It gives us a great sense of internal satisfaction that the journey we have lived, although it wasn’t easy. It is something that is truly rewarding.
Since 2014 we have been voted as a great workplace in India, except in 2015. That year gave us an opportunity to introspect and to figure what course correction is needed to be made and hence for the past four years now, we have consistently been nominated as a great place to work. We are proud of it.
