WORKATION

Workation is a 7 days trip in which all employees of Mindtickle, along with their families are working out from some 1000 kms away amidst sceneries/mountains, close to nature. The concept is, employees get to work from completely new location, which stimulates more innovation, creativity and create team bonding. Along with it, they also get to have a vacation with their families, as after spending the first half of the day, employees are free to have their personal time off with their loved ones, and enjoy the vacation.

Every Friday, Mindtickle has a chaupal, where managers, senior managers, and all other employees share the important updates of their ongoing projects, new hires that have joined during the week and important news related to the company, which is attended by every employee of the company. All the employee are free to ask any questions or queries in the areas being discussed.

As the name suggests it is truly "Mind" + "Tickle". The entire team is motivated and collection of best people from the industry that have come together with a vision to create the world's #1 platform in a new category from India that has never been done before. 1. What is your personal approach to making a Great Workplace? 
We had imagined a journey which was not just around problem-solving, tech building, or a product but had a larger picture in mind. In fact, Building together was considered the critical element of our journey. As it usually said the destination is important but the actual challenge and the most important one is how we travel the path to reach that destination. As founders, we were very clear of the experience which we wanted to offer our employees. Our main aim was to provide them a fun-loving environment filled with a great potential for learning and growing. In short, a memorable one which every employee would cherish in their career even after they move on to grow in their respective fields. We believe that our team is the core strength and we invest in building the relationship which stays not only limited to the office premise but also stays on personal grounds. To sum up our name MindTickle relates to great minds working together with a balanced environment of fun and learning. 2. What are the top 2 benefits you see of creating a Great Workplace? 
A Great Workplace followed by a great team creates magic. The magic is seen in the form of our products in every aspect and every vertical like tech, marketing, sales, customer success, and others in the organization. The company overall creates the impact which was thought of. We also believe that it is easy to copy products, tech or any solution but work culture is the only unique thing which differentiates each company from another. 

3. What are your top people priorities? 
People are our biggest asset and MindTickle believes in having a holistic 360-degree development for all. Right from the employee’s professional growth to their personal growth, health, family and all-round happiness are what leads to the success of the individual and in turn, affects the organization’s growth. On an average, an employee spends maximum time of his day in the office and we are aware that if the work culture is not satisfying then you can see that the person’s development takes a hit too. Hence an overall work-life balance is quite a priority for us.

1. What can your present and potential employees be sure of from a work culture perspective in the organization? 
Trust & Transparency are a core pillar of MindTickle. We follow an open desk culture where the higher management also sit amongst the rest of the employees and you can walk up to them anytime you want to share your thoughts, issues or concerns with them. Every Friday we have a company-wide meeting -Chaupal, where employees are free to ask questions, related to business, product, operations or company in general. Growth and Challenges: The employee can expect to not only grow career-wise but also personally. Here at MindTickle, we use quite a few cutthroat technologies which give employees the opportunity to learn new technologies and grow along with the company. On a personal front, the company holds jamming sessions, poetry recital sessions, football matches as per employee’s passion and interest. Collaborating work environment – Employees at MindTickle are empowered with decision making as one of our values of, Act as founders, which gives a lot of freedom and decision making power to everyone. It also brings trust within employees. Our workation program is a great example of such collaboration at work, this program is a very expensive affair and is lead by a team of employees where every member of the team is empowered in making their own decisions in collaboration with founders and management of the company. These set of employees facilitate the entire work plus vacation trip for other employees and their families where they can bond together away and spend good time with family as well for 7 days. Sense of belongingness: MindTickle functions as a close-knit family, where every new hire is made comfortable from the time of their joining until their exit from the company. In every other major milestone, the company makes sure not only them but their families are included too. The key important value to act as founders gives an employee to make their own decisions which help them to feel part of the family and this company.

2. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing? 
Hiring: The culture of the organization is set by its employees and its practices, and a single wrong hire can do the damage to our culture and values, so we are very picky and peculiar about the kind of people we want to be part of our culture. More than the skills, the passion, the zeal to learn and create an impact in society, the eager and the need to be part of our culture/community and the one who connects with our vision is of utmost importance for us and this is checked throughout the interview process by the Founders & Managers of the respective team. So it makes our hiring process unique and as well as difficult to get the right fit. 

3. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure, etc. in the organization? 
Chaupal: Founders are open to all sort of uncomfortable questions and discuss them openly in our Friday Chaupal( Company update, Q&A Session) Employees come up with grievances, if any or with suggestions or questioning a decision or a process. These questions are sometimes anonymous or nonanonymous. Questioning with data is very much appreciated in the company. The content of Chaupal is delivered by MindTickle’s own internal platform “Pathshala” in which again the feedback is appreciated from employees. Even at the size of 300 employees now, Founders make sure that they do 1:1 with all employees in 6 months interval. We also have a monthly check on performance, goal, well-being during 1:1 with managers. Employees do use this opportunity to discuss their grievances if any. 

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals? 
Great Place to Work® is a brand in the industry and getting recognition from them helps us in one of our business problems, that’s hiring. It gives us the required visibility and helps our potential candidate recognize MindTickle as one of the best employers to work.
