Team Happiness Survey

PubMatic measures employee satisfaction of the major events during the year through surveys where employees can respond anonymously and the organization can then action that feedback based on inputs received from them. PubMatic seeks manager feedback from employees every quarter which has very specific questions like “Is your team happy?” and “Does your manager encourage you to have fun?”. This feedback is shared with the skip-level manager who then shares it with the manager. Here it is ensured that the feedback is anonymous, and the report is generated only when 2 or more employees respond with their inputs. This directly helps the manager to understand the areas of concern from their employees and act on it immediately.

Return to Work

When employees return to work an after a long leave from maternity or due to sickness, etc., PubMatic has a formal ‘Return to Work’ program to help such employees return to productive employment. It assists them in the task of fully resuming their job responsibilities and providing them the required support from the manager, HR, and co-workers during this process.

All are treated equally. There is nothing like a superior-inferior kind of scenario. As far as I am concerned, I am encouraged and appreciated for my thoughts, work, and contribution to the product. We celebrate birthdays, also have health checkups, parties/surprises regularly. Everyone interacts very well. Even though it has not been even a year for me, it feels like I was here for a long time.

1. What is your personal approach to making a Great Workplace?

We ensure that we communicate internally with honesty, transparency, and authenticity which instills trust and helps us bond very closely together. 2. What are the top 2 benefits you see of creating a Great Workplace?
Recruiting and Retention of top talent, both of which are critical to the continued success of PubMatic. We work very hard to promote an employee experience that is equal parts challenging and rewarding and provides an opportunity for employees to take ownership of projects and grow their careers within the organization. It enables our commitment towards becoming an “Employer of Choice”.

3. What are your top people priorities?
Our Top People Priorities have consistently focused on Building the Best People Managers through training and feedback, Recruiting Top Talent by creating an Employer Brand that fosters innovation and creativity and recognizes the contribution of our employees throughout various levels of the organization and Creating a Cycle of Continuous Feedback, with employee and manager surveys, instant feedback, 360 peer reviews and a very comprehensive rewards and recognition program. 

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
Having the designation of being a “Great Place to Work®” has fostered a feeling of pride in each and every employee. In 2019 we are making a significant investment in incremental headcount to support several new investment areas. Most of this new headcount will be added to our Engineering Org in Pune with the hopes of driving technology innovation and increasing efficiencies within our core products. Great Place to Work® certification gives us that competitive edge and makes us a “differentiator” in the market to attract the right talent.

1. What can your present and potential employees be sure of from a work culture perspective in the organization?
All our People Initiatives are crafted with the intention of driving employee engagement, fostering a culture of respect and providing opportunities for our employees to learn and grow. We enter every new hire relationship with the intention of retaining that employee for many years to come. Our “work hard, play hard, give back” approach to the total employee experience provides our employees with innovative work that is aptly rewarded as well as the opportunity to participate in fun social and team events, some that focus on charity work and create a sense of corporate social responsibility. At PubMatic, we have great minds at work and everyone shares and learns from each other. Employees are empowered to take charge of their career and accelerate their career growth. We have many such success stories within PubMatic that inspire everyone to do their best!

2. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing?
AI and Machine Learning are providing new and exciting opportunities to grow our business. However, the candidate pools of individuals with advanced experience in these areas are small and very much in demand. This has led us to embrace the concept of “growing our own talent pools” with comprehensive and long-term training programs that serve the dual purpose of providing a new learning track to our employees and bringing these unique skill sets to the business. Upskilling constantly is the new “mantra” that is being adapted by PubMatic and very well appreciated and supported by our employees.

3. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure, etc. in the organization? 
We work very hard at being inclusive across all our PubMatic offices. Our ultimate goal of being inclusive is to eliminate any barriers to a positive employment experience as well as to create fair and balanced opportunities for all. An inclusive culture is one that encourages respect and is adaptable to various working styles and promotes fairness and tolerance. We promote D&I through focused training programs and initiatives designed and driven internally like “Joy in the Journey” series. We track our Diversity & Inclusion statistics very closely and publish the results internally as well as externally.

Our Recruiting and Retention efforts have both been positively impacted by our association with Great Place to Work®.
