Thanking Employees

There are many instances where organizations send out personalized gift hampers with a note from the senior management to every employee’s family, thanking them for their support and contribution to the success of the organization.

Hotseat is an informal introductory session at Quovantis where the new joinees are brought together for an hour in an organization-wide session where the new team members are introduced and each team asks 2-3 questions. Questions around their aspirations, passion and achievements along with some quirky questions are thrown at them. The idea is to break the ice and have fun while getting to know them.

For every new Joinee the team decorates the desk and assign a Buddy so that they can feel comfortable, Time with Tarun, Product pe Charcha, Roundtable session, Product Demo- Where teams across the organization demonstrate about their product, Joy of Living, We received a postcard at their home address with a heartfelt message about our contributions that makes us a great workplace.

Leaders Speak

Tarun Kohli

CEO, Quovantis Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

1. What is your personal approach to making a Great Workplace?
A Great Workplace isn’t a trophy on the mantle but a constant work in progress. Something that worked in one stage of the company wouldn’t necessarily work in others. Thus, it’s imperative to have a group of people who can adapt to the growing needs of the business, and make sure that we continue to deserve to be a Great Place to Work®. For us to have that focus to be a Great Place to Work®, starts with hiring people who are aligned with that thought process. Thus, I put a lot of emphasis on making sure that we hire people who are aligned with our core values yet are diverse in how they think, and approach problems. Once they are part of Quovantis, I make sure that our people practices encourage them to voice their opinions - appreciate what’s working, and criticize what isn’t.

2. What are the top 2 benefits you see of creating a Great Workplace?
It’s really hard to choose 2 benefits as I feel being a Great Place to Work® helps an organization in multiple dimensions. But, if I was to, I would say -
1. Most of our people want to come to work on Mondays! Not that people don’t leave us or aren’t unhappy but the overall culture makes one feel that work isn’t something you do, and then you go back to your happening life in the evening. It makes one feel that they can be themselves at work, and have their life integrated around work.
2. Given most of us are happy, we want our earlier colleagues or friends to come over and work with us again. Thus, it helps tremendously in hiring.

3. What are your top people priorities?
We’ve been witnessing a lot of growth this year, which means more people would graduate to become leaders within the company. Given they would be becoming the leaders for the first time, our priority would be to make sure they are ready to take on the new role to take care of the team members who report into them. Apart from many things within the company, the biggest factor in people’s happiness is the relationship with their immediate manager. Thus, we want to make sure that we have leaders who can assay this role.

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
The last 5 years of association with Great Place to Work® institute has reinforced the areas that have a maximum impact on people’s happiness. And, the insights shared by the Great Place to Work® team have helped us tremendously to see things from a fresh perspective to help us achieve our #1 goal - be a #peoplefirst organization.

Kaushani Sarkar

Director - People Experience, Quovantis Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

1. What can your present and potential employees be sure of from a work culture perspective in the organization?
There are a couple of cultural aspects that have constantly resonated with our people which I would like to share briefly. To begin with, Quants have often shared that the respect which is shared among the peers brings them together as a family at our workplace. It is heartening to hear when Quants say that Quovantis is their second home! It propels them to strive for excellence while knowing that they have some amazing peers who will help them in any way they can. The other thing that resonates from a cultural standpoint, is the open communication and level of transparency. We ensure that we share our failures as openly as we share our successes. Apart from these, one thing that stays consistent in our cultural expectation is the cycle of continuous feedback. The culture of feedback starts early on, as early as the time when Quants join us. Even during the first few weeks of joining we expect them to share how settled they feel and if there is anything we can help them with. This cycle continues at every life stage of a Quant to understand their engagement levels.

2. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing?
I feel, other than the challenge of finding the right people and retaining the best of our talent, the challenge that our industry is facing is growing the mid-level managers. We believe that the buck essentially stops with them! It starts with grooming the managers and making them understand the importance of caring for their team members. Care from the perspective of - thinking about the team member's growth, alignment of their aspirations with their day to day work, empathizing with them in difficult times, ensuring they get appreciated for doing good work and sharing timely feedback around their improvement areas. So, there should be a lot of focus on enabling and making the Managers equipped with the right skills and behaviors so that they can provide the right guidance.

3. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure, etc. in the organization?
Quovantis has always been a diverse and inclusive workplace and we refrain ourselves from any kind of biases. Diversity for us is the uniqueness associated with each of our team members – in terms of skills, knowledge and experience levels. Be it during the hiring or while promoting Quants to the next level, the criteria stays consistent - the level of their skill, performance, and behavior.

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
The last 5 years of association with Great Place to Work® institute has helped us understand the impact areas that have had a positive impact on our team members. At the same time, the areas of growth have also helped us to understand the gaps in order to come up with plans to bridge those gaps. The discussions and insights shared by the Great Place to Work® team have only encouraged us to continue doing the right things to stay a #peoplefirst organization.
