R.A.C.E. to Lead

Within the ambit of shaping careers, R.A.C.E. (Retail Associate Career Enhancement) to Lead is a program that acts as a catalyst to fast track careers for MBA grads looking forward to building careers in retail. The program is conceived with an objective of identifying, selecting and nurturing young MBAs from reputed B-Schools for developing future Store Managers through a structured, predefined career path over a time frame of 36 months.  The program not only offers an understanding of Store Business Operations & Customer Buying Behaviour but also provides an opportunity for young MBA students to learn On-the-Job & deliver as high flying Store Managers.

New Leader Assimilation Program

When a senior executive joins the organization, opportunity cost starts building day 1 onwards. The objective of the onboarding plan should strive to acclimatize the new leader into the company culture & way of working.  The most important assimilation that a new senior leader requires is with the team. This program is devised with an interface to get the original expectation of the team mapped to the senior executive. A facilitator conducts a session with the team members mapping their expectations. He/she collates the team member's expectation report and shares the same with the leader. The leader prepares himself/herself from the assimilation program in tandem to the expectations shared. In the session, the leader gives his/her understanding of the team's real expectations and shares his/her opinion too. NLA makes the team members drop down the guards and share the real expectations of them. This program is highly dependent on the facilitator's genuineness and no bias about the communication shared.

There aren't major(or) unique changes, but there are minor(or) small changes that they focus on and the employees do expect an organization to do so. These changes build good support between the employees and the organization. This organization usually believes in passing on the profits to employees in the form of incentives(or) perks.

1. What is your personal approach to making a Great Workplace?
Great Place to Work® is not just a title, it’s a philosophy of nurturing a culture. And culture is collective. Therefore, my outlook as a leader is to ensure empowerment and participation of one and all in this journey. My personal approach is heavily reliant on a day-to-day work on this and therefore I encourage myself and my teams to display inclusivity, motivation, commitment and compassion every day to everyone. This helps us translate our company’s DNA into action. Benetton’s heritage lies in building a better world and it starts with building a better home.

2. What are the top 2 benefits you see of creating a Great Workplace?
Being a Great Place to Work® is a benchmark in the fraternity and being accredited with the platform gives a sense of pride to all Benettonians. I believe only happy employees can give an unforgettable experience to the customers. Our employees are the biggest investment in our brand. And their satisfaction and happiness are the most competitive edge we have. I think a small column to list the benefits is unfair but I can surely say- Workplace and Happiness surrounding employees is a pivotal contributor to the present and future success of the company.

3. What are your top people's priorities?
a. At Benetton, our priorities are structured holistically- keeping both people and brands in the center of everything. Empowerment and motivation are at the core of our strategy when we think of people's development in Benetton. It’s very important for people to feel they are contributing to the brand. Our organization focusses on a strong R&R policy. We strongly believe that revolutions start with motivation. Benetton feels proud in boasting of an inspiring culture through the hierarchy.
b. Empowering employees and providing them opportunities to excel in their careers is another priority we have and continue to live by. Expect wonders when you place trust and faith in your people. Our program ‘Shine Unlimited’ gives promising career moves to the deserving across levels and grades.

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
We feel that participating in Great Place to Work® gives us wings to fly higher and set new benchmarks as an organization that is contemporary, youthful, and forward-looking. A business of our type is typically driven by a competitive market place with ever-changing fashion trends that requires agility & quick feet to move ahead while being flexible enough to take recourses, whenever needed. We believe that people are the heart of Benetton and to deliver on its purpose, the “heart” needs to be in the best shape. 1. What can your present and potential employees be sure of from a work culture perspective in the organization?
One thing that we assure to offer to our employees from a cultural perspective is The People First Culture. Our philosophy of “People before Profits” & “Community before Company” nurtures a strong value system that fosters an enabling environment and motivates people to drive sustainable growth at Benetton India. Having a highly motivated & engaged people force is only possible when the organization offers them great opportunities to grow while experimenting & taking risks and at Benetton, this is our DNA. All of this reinforces the faith that we listen and learn from our people. Also, as leaders, acting consistently with integrity, honesty, and transparency becomes an integral part of our organizational fabric.

2. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing?
In this disruptive era, we as an industry are continuously challenged with talent landscape to meet our ever-evolving market dynamics. Whether it is attracting the right and competitive workforce, nurturing and engaging them with the Benetton Unlimited initiatives or retaining the rising stars by growing them internally, we encounter and overcome these challenges as a part of our strategic people initiatives.

3. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure, etc. in the organization?
As an organization, we consistently aspire to offer customized solutions to one and all. We were in fashion business all the more believe that one size doesn’t fit all and thus while co-creating the work culture we actively address the question “what is in it for me?” for our diverse employee group.

Our association has helped us in a big way. At Benetton, it has now become a way of working. We dream, live and aspire to be a Great Place to Work in everything we do.
