Elite RM Meet

The Elite RM Meet is a flagship programme for Varthana's top sales performers. It goes beyond the scope of awards and certificates to cover development aspects, retention and career programs. The objective of this program is to inspire employees to give their best. Around 10-12 % of overall eligible employees receive this recognition every quarter. These employees are invited to the Head Office for a leadership meeting, the agenda of which includes recognition, engagement, development and social time. The leadership team at Varthana, addresses the team directly and asks for their suggestions and inputs for improvements. 




The Elite RM program is designed to develop second-line leadership in branches. Varthana has created a role of Territory Managers below Branch Managers, elevate best performers and potential talents to provide them with people manager exposure. These managers, groom 2-3 RMs under the supervision of Branch Managers. The Elite RM program also has a buddy program where all Elite RMs work to develop at least 2 average performing RMs for Elite team by sharing their experience and knowledge. This shadowing process has helped Varthana develop higher performing RMs in the system. 30% of Elite RMs are promoted to higher roles in a short span of time. 

Varthana is a great place to work as here people are really friendly, and this impact comes with our role. We feel very comfortable to work here, even senior people are very fair and transparent. Overall, I feel happy to work here. One more point is that, in Varthana if you are a performer then your growth starts very fast, in terms of level or money, Varthana is a growing company and in my short term here I am looking for a long tenure in this company.

1. What is your personal approach to making a Great Workplace? 
I take a lot of inspiration from the Bible and how it says we should treat other people. In this regard, I see the company as a community of people, working together to fulfil a vision to make the world a better place, as opposed to the company as a type of machine in which the people and their work are merely inputs that generate a product, profit, etc. 

2. What are the top 2 benefits you see of creating a Great Workplace? 
While it is sometimes difficult to measure, I believe a strong, positive culture is one of the most difficult aspects of the business for a competitor to replicate. When people love the work and workplace, they tend to work a little harder and better, and that ends up making a big difference over time and at scale.

3. What are your top people priorities? 
Our top priority is to make sure that our team members are growing in their respective roles. Growth is exciting (and sometimes scary/painful) and inspiring because it is the manifestation that you have even more potential than you have already realized. The next task, in an organization that is growing as fast as Varthana, is to recognize where and when we need to bring in more seasoned leadership to help coach and mentor those of us that have never done what are role requires.

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals?
Great Place to Work® has helped us identify the specific areas we need to strengthen to further improve our work environment. Our strong rating has also been a help in recruiting new talent to an organization that does not yet have as much visible name recognition as larger companies. Both of these components are helping us strengthen the team to achieve our ever more ambitious goals.

1. What can your present and potential employees be sure of from a work culture perspective in the organization?

2. What, according to you, is a people challenge your industry is facing? 
The high growth of the NBFC segment over the last few years had resulted in a shortage of talent and high cost. At the middle level, there is a talent crunch of managers with the right mix of business and people skills, whereas the front line workforce is impacted by whooping Job hopping, attrition, and integrity issues. There is an immediate requirement of skill imparting, management development and data sharing for fraud control.

3. How are you ensuring a consistent workplace experience FOR ALL your employees, irrespective of their role, age, gender, tenure, etc. in the organization? 
We live our value of “Serve Other”, which state we value people and relationship more than anything else. This principle is embedded in our systems and processes. We have offices without a cabin, irrespective of the role people share the same workspace. Our travel, reimbursement process doesn’t follow any differential entitlements. Our hiring process follows equal employment opportunity avoids any biases.

4. How has your association with Great Place to Work® helped your business and strategic goals? 
We have got open and transparent feedback from our employees, this provides us with benchmarks against the practices in the industry. Moreover certifying with Great Place to Work® compliment our reputation on organization culture with internal and external stakeholders.
