It is committed to helping employees achieve a better balance in their overall well-being by maintaining flexibility as a core element of its work culture, as demonstrated through its 100% Work-from-Home Flexibility for All.

Synchrony’s work strategy has been anchored around flexibility and choice, with all employees in India being able to continue working from home across Synchrony’s five Regional Engagement Hubs. Regional Engagement Hubs are established in Hyderabad, Delhi NCR, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Pune to encourage collaboration while maintaining flexibility. Synchrony’s primary goal is to enable continued transparency and open dialogue among all leaders and colleagues. 97% of its workforce believes that the way of working provides them with the flexibility they need.

To align with the needs and preferences of its employees, Synchrony crafts policies and benefits based on feedback and market insights. Synchrony conducts regular feedback sessions and roundtables, welcoming suggestions to enhance employees’ wellbeing and experience. Based on the continuous insights and learnings received, new programs have been crafted while also evolving existing programs and benefits. Through feedback, Synchrony introduced an enhancement to a specific benefit through paid parental leave for non-birthing parents, which provides up to 12 weeks of paid leave. The enhanced benefit also covers paid care leaves of 2 weeks to support their partners in a time of need on account of miscarriage, stillbirth, or medical termination of pregnancy. Synchrony listens to feedback and evaluates what is right for its people as it takes the next step toward their overall health and wellness.

It constantly asks questions and actively listens to what employees must tell them. Leaders engage with employees through initiatives such as “Ask Us Anything” sessions, where employees can directly interact with leadership, as well as Town Halls, monthly Connection Days for in-person engagement, and Casual Coffee Conversations with leaders. It is a relationship built on trust. Synchrony’s people know their voices count. It is a constant dialogue—a key contributing factor to tremendous employee engagement.

THE GREAT TRANSFORMATION

In 2023, Synchrony announced its participation in “The Great Transformation,” a multi-year research initiative in partnership with Great Place to Work®. In it, 11 organizations- each chosen for their commitment to creating more equitable and innovative workplaces- participate in specific pilot programs designed to unlock greater inclusion, resilience, and agility at work.
Synchrony is testing a new approach to executive leadership development to enhance the employee experience. Synchrony has invested in its top leaders to further hone leadership behaviours like candor, empathy, and accountability to improve individual and team performance.
New leadership assessment tools are being used to solicit constructive feedback from leaders’ peers and employees. In addition, questions focused on leadership and support have been added to Synchrony’s employee pulse surveys. Catering to over 100 leaders, Synchrony’s Vice President Leadership Experience in India is an immersive experience on generating the mindset shifts and behaviours needed to accelerate individual and team performance.
