Breakthrough was founded in 1999 with the mission of using arts and culture to transform the gender norms that perpetuate violence and discrimination against women and girls. We do this by bringing these issues, thus far perceived as private, into mainstream conversations and inspiring people to take action for change. The usage of multimedia, art, and culture helped us connect with large audiences to enable behaviour change in them.

Breakthrough has fostered a culture characterized by an unwavering dedication to excellence, innovation, and an unparalleled commitment to our mission. Within our team, there is a strong sense of mutual support that brings out the best in each individual. I eagerly anticipate coming to the office, even on Mondays. The organization promotes transparency, and the Senior Leadership team is committed to nurturing the development of future leaders.
Breakthrough is my workplace, and also a space which nurtures my skills, recognises my abilities and potential and offers me a safe space. Objectively speaking, Breakthrough stands and practices the values and principles which have been enlisted in our HR manual - integrity, dignity, equity and innovation. The organisation lets people/employees be themselves and accommodates diverse potentials and talents. Great workplaces are not only built by people but also through the visionary leadership of the CEO and the Senior leadership team members. BT practices shared leadership and encourages the building of a second line of leadership. I have been privileged enough to take part in shaping strategies, contribute to organisational processes and represent BT in various external platforms.
