Prayatna is a non-profit organization registered in 2003 under the Indian Societies’ Registration Act of 1860. The organization works on issues related to education, health, livelihood, youth development, sustainable development, and disaster management. The term Prayatna, meaning conation and effort, reflects the organization’s commitment to purposeful action in achieving its mission. Prayatna draws deep inspiration from the Gandhian philosophy and is committed to improving the quality of life of the most marginalized and disadvantaged sections of society. In 2003, the Founder, Mr. Prabhat Kumar, along with like-minded individuals, established Prayatna in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
